MA Thesis Option — English
This course will help you develop and research possible dissertation topics. In creating dissertstion announcements, you can use one of two styles.
For School Psychology students — proposal must be approved prior to going on internship. Literature should be well reviewed e. The student is also responsible for saving dissertation data and, in collaboration with the Committee Chair, ensuring for proper storage of the data within the department e. This component will include the dissertation presentation of approximately 30 – 40 minutes, followed by the questions and an open discussion. It should be up-to-date and from credited sources.
The introduction chapter should end with a clear outline of the structure of the document. Students in the research project stage of matriculation for the DBA degree must maintain satisfactory status with the University and are required to enroll in the sequence of doctoral dissertation courses needed for the development and completion of the dissertation.
It should not exceed words. If all efforts to secure a third reader from another department fail, the student may ask another English faculty member proposall serve. Committee members may request restricted access to the raw data in order to perform their role on pgoposal committee. Potential proposall should be provided a brief prospectus on your project so they can make an informed decision about membership.
Create and send announcement of dissertation defense meeting via email to the Department Chair, Graduate Dean, College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Dean, and College of Education Dean, for dissemination to campus community. Schedule defense of the thesis, keeping in mind the following timeline: Below the abstract, about five key words need to be given that guide the reader towards the main issues of interest in the thesis. Similarly, every chapter should end with a brief summary that captures the main points that have been discussed in that chapter.
Guide to Completing the Dissertation

After all the corrections requested by the dissertation committee have been made, submit to the Graduate School a hard copy draft of the document to be reviewed for formatting compliance. Some data may require additional de-identification procedures prior to such access to protect client confidentiality, which is also the joint responsibility of the student and Committee Chair.
File a copy of the approved thesis with the department chair. This copy must include the completed signature form. Students whose writing is not considered by their committee to be up to graduate-level standards may be barred from pursuing the thesis option for the MA degree.
Complete the Committee Selection Form and turn it into your program director. You will work with your chair to decide which format you will use. Final verification that all requirements have been met will be given by the Graduate Dean who will notify the student and committee chair.
